CCHCC’s work on hospital Community Benefits and community rights grows out of our work with hospital workers and administrators, social service organizations, local government officials, and other community organizations and consumers who are concerned about hospitals’ administrative decisions and how those impact patient health and safety and community oversight of hospitals. Work in these areas has focused specifically on Community Benefits and the need for hospitals to work directly with the community and consumers to target their resources to meet community-identified needs, as well as focusing on greater accountability and transparency to the community, especially for non-profit status. Along with area nurses, CCHCC has produced A Consumers’ Guide to Understanding Hospital Nurse Staffing Levels and Patient Health and Safety. CCHCC has also produced Community Benefits Fact Sheet.
