Dear friend,
The Champaign County Board will soon be deciding on whether or not to sell the Champaign County Nursing Home (CCNH) to the sole bidder – Extended Care Clinical, LLC and Altitude Health Services, Inc. – secured by the brokerage firm, Marcus & Millichap, who was hired by the County Board.
As the County Board moves forward toward making a decision on whether or not to sell the CCNH to these companies owned by William “Avi” Rothner and Eric Rothner, it’s more important than ever that we, as a community, learn about the Champaign County Nursing Home and its current programs and operations.
Please plan to attend tomorrow’s Community Meeting about the CCNH, which is being sponsored by the Friends of Champaign County Nursing Home.
WHO: Friends of Champaign County Nursing Home
WHAT: Community Meeting on Champaign County Nursing Home
WHEN: Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 1 – 3 p.m.
WHERE: Urbana Free Library, 210 West Green Street, Urbana – in the basement in the Lewis Auditorium
Topics to be covered at the meeting include the following: a) the changing financial picture of the CCNH; b) promising opportunities for the CCNH; c) quality of care improvements at CCNH under the new management firm SAK; and d) pitfalls of for-profit ownership of nursing homes (especially investor-owned for-profit companies).

The County Board’s Next Steps – Important Meetings Coming Up:
Please save the dates for these important meetings and plan to attend and/or participate during public participation:
Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. – County Board’s Committee of the Whole (COW) Meeting.
The County Board’s Committee of the Whole meeting will not include action items on the sale of the CCNH (that will take place at the County Board Meeting on May 24).
However, the County Board’s Committee of the Whole Meeting on Tuesday, May 15 is still an important opportunity for public participation and for constituents to speak directly to the County Board as whole. Public Participation is scheduled as Item #5, near the beginning of the meeting. You can see the agenda for the meeting here:

Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. – The sale of the CCNH will be on the agenda for this meeting, as will approval of a county budget process.
This meeting is very important! This is the meeting where the vote to sell or not sell the CCNH to this bidder will take place.
No agenda is available for this meeting yet.
Please stay tuned for more important information about the Champaign County Nursing Home and the bid to purchase it.
Sincerely,
Claudia Lennhoff
