I won’t sugarcoat this – we need your help immediately in order to try to save the Medicaid program. If you can, please make these phone calls TODAY, before 5 p.m.
The House is set to vote on their budget resolution today, which includes massive cuts to Medicaid. Hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans will lose their access to healthcare if this budget resolution passes. Help us flood Rep. Bost, LaHood, and Miller’s phones TODAY to say NO to this budget resolution, and NO to Medicaid cuts! Use the phone numbers and sample language below to get started.
Please call as many of these Representatives as possible! Also, please share this message with other people so that they can help make calls as well. CCHCC will provide updates on an ongoing basis.

Background:
Republican leaders in Congress are pushing forward legislation that would cut billions in funding for Medicaid and other programs that individuals rely on to meet their basic needs. The House is planning a vote this evening to fast track plans that could lead to deep cuts! Now is the time to tell your representatives in the House to reject any budget that uses Medicaid and other benefits as a piggy bank to fund tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations and mass deportations.
Last week the House Budget Committee marked up a budget resolution that directs the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over Medicaid, to cut a minimum of $880 billion in federal spending. The only way to do this that is by drastically cutting Medicaid.
These massive cuts threaten coverage for millions of low-income individuals, families, and people with disabilities who rely on Medicaid for their health and long-term care needs. Medicaid is a lifeline for enrollees. Whether Medicaid cuts come in the form of red tape such as work requirements and stricter eligibility rules, or caps and cuts to federal funding, the result is the same: any Medicaid cut will take away health care access from underserved communities.
Now is the time to tell the House of Representatives to vote no on the budget resolution. Tell them to oppose the budget resolution and any other legislation that would cut Medicaid. Use this call-in line to reach your member of Congress: 866-426-2631.
Thank you for your activism!
Sincerely,
Champaign County Health Care Consumers
