Meeting attendees heard information about the basic Part D program, Illinois specific information regarding the new Illinois Cares Rx Program (formerly Circuit Breaker pharmaceutical assistance), the Extra Help Program administered by Social Security, and an analysis of the Medicare Part D law and current program.   Attendees were encouraged to be cautious consumers and beware of insurance scams. Champaign County Health Care Consumers announced the creation of a new task force dedicated to Medicare Rights that will launch a campaign to support reforming Part D to better meet the needs of Medicare beneficiaries.
