Champaign County Health Care Consumers (CCHCC) celebrated 42 years of organizing for health care access and justice at our 2019 Annual Awards Dinner on Friday, May 3, 2019. With nearly 200 people in attendance, the Dinner was a great success and a wonderful time.
Thank you to everyone who made it to the dinner! We enjoyed your company and hope to see you all again next year!
The Board and Staff of Champaign County Health Care Consumers (CCHCC) cordially invite you to join us for our 42nd Annual Awards Dinner on Friday, May 3, 2019.
CCHCC is looking forward to honoring this year’s award recipients (stay tuned – we will be announcing award recipients soon!) and celebrating 42 years of grassroots organizing to improve health care in Champaign County. Please join us for this special celebration!
2019 Awards Recipients
The CCHCC Board and Staff are pleased to announce the Award Recipients for this year’s Annual Awards Dinner. We hope you can join us at the Dinner and help celebrate these incredible individuals:
• Liliana Streber Ramirez – Aimee Olson Advocate Award
• Libeth Rosas – Harry J. Baker Community Service Award
• Kyle Patterson and Stephanie Fortado – Leadership in Government Award
• Mauricio Salinas – Lilia E. Peters Service to New Immigrants and the International Community Award
• 5th & Hill Resident Leaders: Edwin “Ebbie” Cook (In Memoriam), Magnolia “Maggie” Cook, M D Pelmore, Jerry Lewis, and Eileen Oldham – Lifetime Achievement Award
Please help us recognize these extraordinary individuals and the important work they’ve done to improve the health and lives of our community members!
And… for the Golden Bedpan Award (that’s the award you don’t want to get!), there were so many “bad actors” to choose from! But when so many Americans are dying because they can’t afford their prescriptions (like insulin!), even in this time of greater insurance coverage and a “good” economy, because pharmaceutical companies are raising their prices so far out of reach, we are compelled to recognize Big Pharma with the Golden Bedpan Award.
Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Holiday Inn (formerly Hawthorn Suites)
Free Parking | Wheelchair Accessible
The Social Hour will begin at 6:00 p.m., with dinner being served at 6:45 p.m. Music provided by local jazz musicians. This year, the main course is a delicious Honey Mustard Chicken, served with roasted potato wedges and asparagus. The vegetarian option will be Stuffed Portobello, filled with Italian braised Vegetables on a bed of blended wild rice. There will be iced tea, coffee, dessert, and a cash bar.
The awards presentation will follow, along with a slideshow of highlights from the past year.
Please RSVP by Friday, April 19. Tickets are $40 each or $340 for a table of 10. If you would like to come to the Dinner but cannot afford the full price of a ticket, please contact CCHCC staff at (217) 352-6533 or by email.
