If Co. Nursing Home is sold, will you still have to pay property tax for it? You might be surprised…

The sale of the Champaign County Nursing Home (CCNH) is imminent. The Champaign County Board will be meeting this week – on Thursday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. – and will be voting on the sale of the CCNH. One issue that must be addressed, and that county residents have a right to know about is what happens to the property taxes levied to support the CCNH?

CCHCH has inquired to the County about what would happen to the two property tax levies that are currently being assessed for the Champaign County Nursing Home.

You might be surprised to learn about the County’s plans, with regard to the property tax that was levied as a result of a voter referendum “for the purpose of maintaining a county nursing home”.

Research on proposed buyer of CCNH and Take Action to oppose sale to buyer

May 21, 2018

Dear friend,

The sale of the Champaign County Nursing Home (CCNH) is imminent. The Champaign County Board will be meeting this week – on Thursday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. – and will be voting on the sale of the CCNH.

Altitude Health and Extended Care Clinical, LLC, together, are the sole bidder for purchasing the county’s nursing home. These companies are owned by members of the Rothner family, who have extensive ownership in nursing homes in multiple states.

We urge you to:

  1. Review the research that CCHCC has compiled on these companies, which are owned by members of the Rothner family, and on nursing homes owned by the Rothners.
You can see the research here
  2. Contact your County Board members by phone or e-mail and let them know you oppose the sale of the CCNH to this buyer.

What we are asking the County Board to do, and why:  Given the concerns that exist about the current bidder for the CCNH, and the need for more information, we are asking the County Board to simply pause, or slow down, and not rush into the sale of CCNH to this buyer. There are other developments that are promising for the CCNH, and these should be allowed some time.

Research into prospective buyer for Champaign County Nursing Home

On Thursday, May 24, 2018, the Champaign County Board will be voting on whether to sell the Champaign County Nursing Home (CCNH) to the sole bidder – Altitude Health and Extended Care Clinical, LLC. These companies are owned by members of the Rothner family.

In order to evaluate the bidder and how the CCNH might fare under its ownership, CCHCC has conducted research into the nursing homes owned by these companies, as well as other nursing homes owned by two members of the Rothner family: Eric Rothner and William “Avi” Rothner.

Please note that more research is ongoing, and we will update you with our findings in the next day or so.

Take Action TODAY on proposed sale of Champaign Co. Nursing Home! Here’s how.

May 15, 2018

Tonight the Champaign County Board’s Committee of the Whole will be meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Brookens Administrative Center.

This is a great opportunity to come out and to speak during Public Participation to let County Board Members know that you oppose the sale of Champaign County Nursing Home (CCNH) to the proposed buyer – Altitude Health and Extended Care Clinical, LLC. The County Board will vote on the sale of the CCNH next week, on Thursday, May 24.  However, tonight is an important opportunity to speak publicly and on record.

You can also contact your County Board members by phone or by e-mail to let them know you oppose the sale of Champaign County Nursing Home to this buyer.

In addition, there are serious concerns about the pricing of CCNH as listed by the brokerage firm, Marcus & Millichap. Also, the $11 million asking price, set by Marcus & Millichap, is not enough to resolve the debt. There are enough concerns to ask the County Board to pause and slow down, rather than rushing ahead with the sale of CCNH to this buyer.
